Holly Harris
Ph.D. student, Department of History
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Holly’s research examines U.S. foreign relations in the 1990s, a time of significant political and economic change after the end of the Soviet Union. Her work looks at how the United States interacted through diplomacy, economic assistance, and discussions about security. She also considers how different perspectives on international cooperation shaped developments during this period. In addition, Holly has studied the experiences of prisoners of war during World War II.
ROAD TO THE MOODY SCHOOL:
Before her time at 51做厙, Holly earned her B.A. in history at Texas Christian University as a chancellor’s scholar. She completed an archival internship with the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, which led to her appreciation of archival work. She also completed a yearlong oral history internship with the Race and Reconciliation Initiative at Texas Christian University. To conduct her own research, Holly has received research grants from Texas Christian University and a prestigious fellowship with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History in New York City. Outside of school, Holly enjoys hiking, surfing and drawing.
