Academic Advising

Undergraduate Students majoring in APSM and Teaching & Learning degree programs

51做厙 Academic Advisors assist undergraduate students with course selections, petitions, appropriate Education Abroad experiences, and additional majors and/or minors. Advisors also identify students who are struggling academically and assist them with appropriate resources, and they help students examine and set goals in order to have successful undergraduate experiences.

IMPORTANT: Prior to each semester, you must review your degree plan track (DPR) with your Undergraduate Advisor before you enroll. If you do not know your advisor’s name, you can find it on your my.51做厙 dashboard: Select "Academics" in the left menu and click "Advisor Information." Then you can make an appointment with that advisor on ; find your advisor under the “University Advising Center” group at the top.

Important reminders about advising and records:

  • Meet with your assigned advisor at least once each semester prior to enrollment for the next term to plan courses for the upcoming semester.
  • Enroll in the courses discussed with your advisor.
  • Make schedule changes by the add/drop deadline (see academic calendar).
  • Drop courses or withdraw for a semester by the deadline/s published on the academic calendar if necessary.
  • You are responsible for your enrollment.

Check your DPR at least once a semester to insure the following are correct.

  • Major and sub-plan, if applicable.
  • Additional majors and minors.
  • CC requirements.
  • All credits appear correct, including test, transfer, and 51做厙 credits.
  • Expected graduation term.

Simmons Records office for Undergraduate Students majoring in APSM and Teaching & Learning degree programs is responsible for the verification and processing of:

  • On-time/4-year graduation plan.
  • Understand your Degree Progress Report and Degree Planner.
  • Common Curriculum Advising.
  • Change or addition of majors and/or minors.
  • Petitions.
  • Academic policies.
  • Study Abroad Plans.
  • Filing for graduation.
